Founded on three generations in the elevator industry
Growing up in the elevator industry was part of the Robinson Brothers everyday life. In early childhood they would tag along with their father Bernie Robinson on emergency callbacks. Bernie started in the elevator business after an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1958. Bernie worked in new construction, modernization, repair and adjusting. Bernie formed the foundation for his son’s success in the elevator industry.
Michael Robinson
Chief Executive Officer
Michael Robinson entered the elevator industry after graduating high school in 1983. Michael worked in new construction, modernization, repair and adjusting. Michael was instrumental in the life saving efforts at the former World Trade Center during the 1993 bombing and was awarded a Medal of Valor and Award for Exceptional Service by the Port Authority and Governors of New York and New Jersey, a gold watch and an award for lifesaving efforts above and beyond the call of duty by Otis Elevator. Michael currently holds a New York City Department of Buildings Elevator Agency Directors license, a Qualified Elevator Inspector Supervisor certification and is a member of the ASME, NAEC, NAVTP and ECNY.
In 2003, Michael Robinson founded MJR Elevator Consulting Group. Over the years MJR experienced tremendous growth by providing professional services to some of the largest names in the NYC real estate market. Michael founded QEI Services, one of three organizations whose education program is accredited by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Chris Robinson
Chief Technical Officer
In 2008, Chris Robinson joined his brother Michael with their aim to expand the company by providing superior service to other verticals in the elevator industry. Chris started in the elevator industry after graduating high school in 1985. He has worked in new construction, modernization, repair, service, and adjusting. Prior to joining MJR, Chris was the resident lead mechanic at the AOL Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle. Chris is currently a member on the ASME QEI Standards Committee, ASME Inspections Committee, and a member on the ASME Hand & Sidewalk Committee. Chris currently holds New York City Department of Buildings Elevator Agency Directors license, a Qualified Elevator Inspector Supervisor certification and is a member of the ASME, NAEC, NAVTP and ECNY.
By 2011, the company had grown to encompass Robinson Elevator (maintenance, repair, new construction and modernization), QEI Services (education), Vertical Testing Associates (testing), and MJR Elevator Consulting Group (consulting, design and witnessing).
Today, Robinson Elevator Group has consolidated their product offering into three core verticals.
